Welcome to
Camp Kool Kreativ

Summer 2024 Camp Kool Kreativ will again be for rising

3-5 graders, and we're introducing TWO separate morning

camp sessions rather than just one! Each session will be 4 days each (M-Th.) from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, and the final day will conclude with a public program celebration at 12:00 PM to showcase your campers' activities of the week.

Summer 2023 saw the inaugural year of Camp Kool Kreative with 35 rising 3rd-5th grade campers joyfully experiencing all there was to offer. Fun explorations of Music, Mindfulness, Movement and Art highlighted their creativity and connection to the earth, themselves, and each other. During the daily closing circles, 'JOY, PEACE, and HAPPINESS' were the words campers most often mentioned.

Kreativ Mindful Movement + Music

These classes are offered to the 'WePlay' after-school programs at two Winston Salem area Recreation Centers: Polo Park and Miller Park. Kindergardners-6th graders are exploring embodied learning through movement and music regarding their relationship to Mother Earth and Father sky (grounding and centering) that offer them emotional and mental regulation through breath, movement and connection to themselves and each other.

We're playing with a variety of experiences, both fast and slow: quick agility exercises -- 'Plant the tree' and 'Push the Wave', and slow qi-walking, and "Circle up and Ground down". Many experiences are set to music for further learning and engagement.

More exploring includes the four directions through 'North-South'-East/West' - lead by students, and bowing with gratitude  to all directions and each other. The seasons, Musical chairs, clapping rhythms/melody recognition and many other group activities, often in the circle where we see and learn from each other, are introduced and enjoyed by all!
